After a five-year hiatus, in 2023 we resumed, raising heritage breed turkeys. These breeds were developed decades ago and were bred for
flavor rather than fast growth or enormous breasts.
This year Bourbon Red and
Blue Slate turkeys spent the summer flying and roaming
freely in the pastures. They've been lovingly fed on the
finest organic grain from Stone House Farm in
Livingston. Because they get exercise their meat is
darker, and because they live twice as long as the fast-
growing broad breasted breeds, they develop a layer of
fat under the skin, giving them far richer flavor than
your standard butterball.
These turkeys make unforgettable centerpieces for your Thanksgiving feast. They range from 7 to 17 lbs. and sell for $12/lb.
The turkeys will be processed on Wednesday, November 20th , and will be distributed beginning Sunday of Thanksgiving week, with a pickup spot in lower Manhattan Tuesday evening of Thanksgiving week.
We rescued our peppers just before the first frost in October. Jalapenos are two for $1, small hot chili peppers are 10 for a $1
Our latest coterie of Rhode Island red hens are on the verge of producing their first eggs. These small but rich pullet eggs will be $6 a dozen, as will the bigger adult eggs that follow.
